INFINITI QX80

INFINITI unveiled the QX80 Monograph concept at the 2017 New York Auto Show in April and it’s the largest and most luxurious concept model produced by the automaker so far.

Standing 6-feet tall and 6-feet wide, the Monograph Concept was designed to command. The QX80 features a bold, boxy body and a unique double-arch sculpted grille. Black A-pillars give the illusion of a floating roof, while pop-out door handles add a sophisticated look to the exterior. The QX80 Monograph also has a large fender that serves to vent air to the engine and improve aerodynamics.

“Human Eye” headlamps become long slender lines wrapping around the front corners and extending out onto the hood of the vehicle. The headlamps taper into thin light bars leading to rear-view cameras. These cameras take the place of side mirrors, although they will likely be swapped out for regular door mirrors if the design reaches production. Current United States regulations do not allow cameras to take the place of exterior mirrors. However, this feature would add numerous benefits, including better aerodynamics. If rear-view cameras are ever allowed to take the place of mirrors, you can expect to see them on many vehicles including the QX80 Monograph.

Two-tone, straight-spoke 24-inch wheels complete the QX80 Monograph’s bigger, stronger appearance, while the outer edges of the wheels overlap the tires. This overlap makes the wheels look larger than they are. The back features thin taillights and wide twin exhausts. A gloss-black airfoil located between the exhausts help improve air flow in the wake of the vehicle.

Although INFINITI hasn’t revealed the interior of the QX80 Monograph concept, we imagine that it would be just as striking and upscale as the exterior. The release date of the 2018 QX80 has not been released by Infinity yet. Infinity says that the QX80 Monograph is currently just a concept vehicle. But, we would expect some version of it in the next year or so, which is a good thing because what has been revealed of the QX80 Monograph so far is quite impressive.
